Vaseline 'Pink Bubbly' Inspired Pink and Black Manicure

A few weeks ago I picked up a tin of the limited edition 'Pink Bubbly' Vaseline and ever since I've been planning on doing a manicure to match - I love the classy combination of pink black and gold. Here is the result:

I'm really happy with the result! It was pretty easy to do and very cute... I used Revlon's 'Lilac Pastelle' as the base coat (it is slightly more lilac than pink, as the name suggests, but very close), then I used Xtras Shade 78 (black) for the tips. I then went over the bottom of the tips with my trusty striping tape...

Definitely one of my faves so far...

Red and Silver Lace Stamping Nail Art

Sorry I've been away for a while! I've had a crazy week or so... Anyway, here is an update with the mani I wore this weekend...

I loved this design and unfortunately the pictures really don't do it justice...

Red and Silver Lace Nail Art

The base colour I used was Revlon Matte Suede in 'Ruby Ribbon'. I think this is a discontinued line as I picked it up at Poundland! They had a few nice Revlon colours last time I was in, but that was a couple of weeks ago. Although the colour is lovely and the matte effect is gorgeous the polish was very hard to apply and looked quite uneven, however after a couple of shiny top coats of Seche Vite it wasn't so apparent (although it wasn't matte any more).

The stamping  plate I used was BM-315 and I used my striping tape from Amazon. Previously I've mentioned that I've found the tape doesn't last long and gets a bit worse for wear after a day, however I think I've cracked it! I used very thick layers of Seche Vite and made sure that it completely covered the tape. I wore these nails for 3 days and the tape was still as good as new.

Matte Teal Chevron Nail Art

I had a couple of hours to spare today so I decided to try something more time consuming.  Well, I say I had more time, but I was actually putting off doing work for my masters degree. I am officially the queen of procrastination!

Green Chevron Nail Art

I went for some pretty chevron nails, finished off with some striping tape to make the effect more striking..

Teal Chevron Nail Art

The lovely teal colour I used is Rimmel ‘Sky High’ and I did the chevrons by taping off sections with sellotape and painting them with Models Own ‘Mushroom’. The striping tape is from Amazon. I used some Rimmel ‘Matte Finish’ top coat to finish it off.

Challenge:Jean Paul Gaultier Nails

Exciting times! I’ve had my first challenge request from Sian who asks:

“I have a new obsession in my life – the new diet coke can from Jean Paul Gaultier with the Breton stripes. Has been an object of fascination to me since I saw it on the shelves last week and have taken to leaving it in situ on my desk at work so myself and others can admire its wonderfulness.
How about a set of nails to give this iconic can double the attention it is getting already when you hold it?”

And here’s the result, Breton stripes and all!

I’m pretty impressed with the result – although I think I could have done a better job at making the space between the stripes more even…

The nail polish I used was Barry M ‘Matt White‘ and I used this striping tape again.

Blue Striping Nail Art

I've been absolutely drooling over some of the striping mani’s I've seen on Pintrest recently, so I was dying to try my own!

Blue Striping Nail Art

It’s my first attempt at using striping test and I'm quite happy with the overall result. I could have been a bit neater around the edges, and I didn't do the best clean up job for the photos but I love the effect!

The colours I used were Collection 2000 ‘Button Moon’ and ‘Blue Hawaii’ for the end colours, and Barry M's ‘Blueberry Ice Cream’ (as pictured).
I used striping tape I bought from Amazon which came in at a few quid so a bit of a bargain for 10 colours! Some of the reviews aren’t great, and I do agree that it lifts at the sides a little after wear, however, I think that snipping it a little short and using a generous amount of a good top coat might help in the future… I’m sure I’ll have plenty more striping tape mani’s coming up so keep an eye out!
